Project Description

This course develops the skills needed to design separation processes and to size/optimize related equipment ( Sedimentation, Thickeners and Clarifiers, Centrifuges, Cyclones , Filtration, Membranes, Adsorption, Ion Exchange, and Chromatographic). Where appropriate, emphasis is given to the associated health and safety risks, applicable standards, and economic, as well as environmental considerations and on how these considerations should be incorporated throughout the design process. Uses correlations and experimental data to evaluate a given separation unit. Applies engineering principles to do engineering calculations and size various separation processes.
